Day 5 Truckee to Sparks.
We left Trukee alongside a lovely river and saw the entrance to Squaw Valley where a winter olympic games was held, but goodness knows when, took a photo of the sign and the olympic flame though. Then onto a bike path and ahead we could see more of the snowcapped Sierra ranges on another sunny day with a cloudless sky, the weather gods are being kind up to now, but it's costing an arm and a leg in sunblock. Climbed steadily to 6200' and then arrived at Lake Tahoe, what a sight, amazing views, and if only I could find a computer that worked properly I could download the photos so you could see for yourself, but that will have to wait. From Tahoe we crossed the state line, said goodbye to California and entered the gambling state of Nevada. The casinos started as soon as the line was crossed. We then had to climb up to summit of Mount Rose, which meant an 8 mile climb to 8900 feet, it was cold up there as we were above the snow line. Photos at the top then a 16.7 mile descent at speeds up to 40 mph with breathtaking views. It was nice to feel the air getting warmer as we dropped down to the town of Sparks which is not too far from Reno. Glad to get into the hotel after 2 days of really hard climbing. we've been promised that Nevada is a lot flatter. Todays distance was 64.8 miles.

Sounds like tough work Dad but you're doing great, just hang in there for the first rest day. Mum's doing fine on the email now, she'll be working for Microsoft before we know it!
The photos are cracking, well done for being in some too! Mum came over for dinner last Thursday and we had a good look at her map tracking your progress, keep on trucking pops, we know you can do it.
Take care.

Good work dad, blogging and photos are great. We really enjoy reading what you are up to. Sounds like the climbing is tough, but you'll be fine....that's your forte!!!
Can't believe it's been a week now, it seems to be going really fast.
Just to let you know, Wales got tonked by South Africa in the first test 47-17!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I shouted as loud as I could but I think the team really missed you shouting at the telly back in Aber!
We think about you every day and can't wait to hear more about the big ride.
Love,
Neil and Anna
Keep up all the hard work Wayne!! We're rooting for you back @ home!! Sounds like you're having an amazing time and the photos to date look fabulous!
Keep applying the sunblock - however expensive - it's worth it! Diane fine and keeping busy. Weather at home this weekend has been great - no snow to speak of here though.
Love reading the blog - check it daily so look forward to the next installment!
Take care of yourself,
Love Hele xxx
Awesome work Wayne-O, both on the riding and the blog. I'm especially liking the increasing references to "bud" and "pizza", I knew I should have come with you I was born for those references!! We're loving the photo's and reading about your progress.
To be fair though if I was out there I'd have probably finished by now so hurry up!!
Love you loads,
Huw and EJ

Thank you for your comments, love reading them even if Wales did get thrashed by S. Africa. More soon.
